A super fast curing platinum/addition cure silicone. Mixed 1:1 it has a pot life of about 4-5 minutes and is cured in 15 minutes. It’s incredibly strong and tough, it’s very clear and very fluid. Great for doing fast snap moulds and brush ups. When re-moulding a corrected lifecast I will brush up three layers neat to capture the detail and then back it up with a layer with Polyfibres II added to thicken and add thickness to the mould. The strength of the silicone means I can make moulds only 6mm-10mm thick reducing the amount of silicone used and making these kinds of moulds not only fast to produce but very cost effective. Transil 20 is a little more sensitive to inhibition than Platsil Gel 10 or 25 so I’m careful when making moulds from Chavant sculptures that can contain minute traces of sulphur. In those instances I will stipple a thin layer of Platsil Gel 10 first and then back this up with Transil 20.
